TWR 107: Relying on Your Future Self, Not Your Feelings
How many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning? Which excuses do you make to cancel that workout? Skip the weekly meal prep? If you’re anything like the average human being, it probably feels easier to give in to temptations such as these than it is to power through and make shit happen! This is exactly what it means to rely on our feelings and that is what keeps us stuck or in a vicious cycle.
On those days when you are feeling like you just don’t want to do it, ask yourself, how do you want to show up in the world? What would your future version of yourself do? Let this dictate your actions instead of your constantly changing feelings. If you’re stuck here, you are living in lifestyle 1.0. For example, if you’re in a cycle of dieting and struggling with consistency, you are still operating from lifestyle 1.0. It’s typically just a symptom and not the root cause, which can be the mindset you’re living in. Instead of a growth mindset, you are living in a fixed mindset.
If you’re ready to get out of the cycle of relying on your feelings, then get ready to shift your mindset and get honest with yourself. If you’re willing to commit and follow through, then you will be able to create confidence and build momentum and keep up with your change and show up for yourself. The key to living in a growth mindset, is to show the hell up! Make some small changes and focus on these in order to build bigger, long-haul changes. If you are in need of a fire lit under your ass, then you better listen to this episode!
