TWR 142: Necessary Shifts for Achieving Sustainable Weight Loss (Part 5 of 5)

This is part 5 of Amber’s series about shifts that are necessary to achieve sustainable weight loss, keep the weight off, and create a lifestyle that feels effortless. It all boils down to habit and mindset changes that allow you to live a lifestyle that works for you and gets you off the diet wagon once and for all. If you haven’t checked out parts 1-4 yet, go through them and really let those ideas sink in before capping things off with shift number 5. They lay the foundation that this final shift can’t exist without because sustainable weight loss starts with your mindset and your initiative.

Shift number 5 is a shift that literally changed Amber’s life and yanked her off the endless diet train and out of the vicious spiral of continually gaining back lost weight, with reinforced nasty habits to boot! What was that life-altering final step?

She hired a mentor.

Her mentor helped her unravel her limiting beliefs around food and her own body, and as a result, led her down a better path. That mentor wasn’t cheap, but Amber was dead tired of doing things on her own. She didn’t necessarily need more information. She needed accountability, guidance, and a streamlined process. Really, she needed somebody who could be her cheerleader without judging her for her unproductive beliefs and unhealthy habits. In other words, Amber needed someone who could give her the confidence to continue on when things weren’t going as planned.

If the pain of sliding back into old habits (and your old weight!) is greater than the pain of writing a relatively sizable check for a high-quality mentor, go with the mentor! For Amber, that decision was the best she’s ever made in her life, and it could be for yours, too, if you decide to take the leap.
